Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has urged the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to revise its thinking on economic development.
According to the Minister, a country’s development is not only about physical infrastructure and therefore he could not comprehend why the NDC is saying there is little or nothing to show for government’s high indebtedness.

The position of Mr Nkrumah follows claims by the Minority in Parliament that Ghana’s public debt stock has hit a total of GH¢ 200 billion in the first quarter of 2019 after 27 months of the Akufo-Addo-led administration.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Nkrumah cautioned the opposition not to pretend nothing is happening.

“Who says development is only about infrastructure? It is not possible to say there is nothing to show for the loans and grants we have obtained because when it comes to grants, the monies are given for specific purposes and we have rolled out new projects which may not be capital intensive,” he said.
“Do you expect to see infrastructure before you understand the ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ is working? By 2020, we will be exporting rice and we no longer sing ‘Send Your Girl Child to School’ because free Senior High School has greatly improved female access to schools,” he added.
