A birthday message from South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, to Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright, has sparked widespread reactions on social media after many users appeared surprised by the apparent confirmation of their relationship.
Ebi Bright celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, May 19, and the MP took to X, formerly Twitter, with a heartfelt message that quickly drew attention online.
“A very Special Happy Birthday wishes to this brilliant woman, a sweet wife and a wonderful mother. From the entire family, we wish you good health & the fortitude of mind to continue to transform your beloved Tema, as Mayor. Tons of Love & a mighty hug from me & the kids. Spiritus Invictus!!!!” he wrote.
Within minutes of the post, social media users began reacting, with many expressing surprise that the Tema MCE and the South Dayi legislator were a couple.
The post quickly generated conversations across various platforms, with users revisiting moments from the 2024 elections where the two were frequently seen together during campaign activities.
During the 2024 general election period, Mr Dafeamekpor was reportedly splitting time between campaigning in his South Dayi constituency in the Volta Region and supporting Ebi Bright’s parliamentary campaign in Tema Central.
He was also visibly present during the controversial re-collation of the Tema Central parliamentary election results at the Tema Regional Police Command headquarters, where he was frequently seen by her side.
Before entering frontline politics, Ebi Bright was widely known in Ghana’s film industry and also gained attention as a social activist.
In May 2025, she was appointed Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, becoming the first woman to occupy the position in the history of the port city.
