Multimedia journalist Prince Owusu Asiedu wins Merck Foundation Africa media recognition Award

Multimedia Group Limited journalist, Prince Owusu Asiedu, has earned continental recognition after winning the prestigious Merck Foundation Africa Media Recognition Award for his impactful reporting on major social and health issues.

Prince Owusu Asiedu placed second in the Online Category for West Africa, with the award recognising his work in raising awareness on infertility stigma, women’s empowerment, girls’ education, diabetes and hypertension.

The award was presented by Ghana’s First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, together with the Chief Executive Officer of the Merck Foundation, Rasha Kelej.

Speaking at the ceremony, the First Lady, who also serves as Ambassador for the “More Than a Mother” campaign, encouraged the award winners to continue using journalism as a tool for development and social change.

She urged journalists to celebrate their achievements while remaining committed to impactful health reporting that can help improve lives across Ghana and the continent.

Lordina Dramani Mahama also received an official certificate recognising her role as Ambassador of the “More Than a Mother” initiative.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Merck Foundation, Rasha Kelej, also praised journalists for shaping public conversations on important health and gender-related issues.

She encouraged media practitioners to continue producing stories that educate, inspire and promote positive change in society.

The Merck Foundation Africa Media Recognition Awards honour journalists across the continent whose work contributes to awareness creation and advocacy on critical health and social issues.
