Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of the Akuapem North Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Isaac Basta Hamillin.

He was reportedly found dead in a hotel room at Amanokrom on Monday, May 18.

Reacting to the news, Sammi Awuku, in a Facebook post, described the late Isaac Basta Hamillin as a committed public servant who remained respectful and dedicated despite political differences.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Isaac Basta, the Akuapem North NDC Constituency Secretary today. Though we belonged to different political parties, he rose above party lines and served both his party and the constituency diligently,” he mourned.

Mr. Awuku said the news came as a shock to him, especially because he had interacted with the deceased only a few days earlier.

“It is even harder to believe because our last interaction was just on Saturday,” he stated.

He extended his condolences to the bereaved family, constituency executives, the regional leadership of the NDC, and supporters mourning the loss.

The death of Isaac Basta Hamillin has triggered grief within the Akuapem North political community, with many describing him as hardworking, calm and committed to grassroots party organisation.
