The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Joseph Awal Antwi, has engaged traditional leaders of the Akyode, Adele, and Challa communities to undertake traditional rites aimed at pacifying and cleansing the gods of the land as part of renewed efforts to restore lasting peace in the municipality.

Nkwanta South has faced recurring insecurity over the past five years, resulting in the loss of lives and destruction of property.

The MCE paid peace-focused visits to Shiari, Odomi Challa, and Dadiase, where he held discussions with chiefs and key opinion leaders across the three ethnic groups to build consensus around de-escalation, stability, and development.

Speaking to Adom News, Joseph Awal said the engagements were meant to demonstrate a shared commitment to peace through customary processes and the active involvement of traditional authorities.

He stressed the importance of traditional rulers taking decisive steps to ensure calm and urged all parties to lay down their arms to allow the municipality to return to normalcy.

The MCE also appealed to the youth of the Akyode, Adele, and Challa communities to end hostilities and work together, assuring them of job opportunities through government flagship initiatives and the ongoing construction of a 24-hour market.

Traditional leaders from the three communities described the situation as critical, noting that the conflict has restricted movement, slowed business activity, and stalled development.

They called on armed youth, including those allegedly hiding in the bush, to return home and support the peace process for the recovery and progress of Nkwanta South.
