murder hand chopped off

A heartbroken mum who’s daughter was killed by a suspected drunk driver on her own wedding night has revealed one of the last things her daughter said.

Newly weds Samantha ‘Sam’ Hutchinson, 34, and Aric Hutchinson, 36, were leaving their wedding reception in a golf cart in Folly Beach, South Carolina, on Friday, when they were allegedly rear-ended by Jamie Komoroski, 25.

The happy couple got into a golf cart and were waved off by all their loved ones holding sparklers in a magical moment.

Moments later the little cart they were travelling in was hit by a car driving at 65mph in a 25mph zone, police said.

Sam died still wearing her wedding dress at the scene and Aric, along with his brother-in-law Ben Garrett and nephew Brogan, were hurled from the wreckage, suffering critical injuries.

Sam’s mum Lisa Miller revealed some of the last words her daughter said, via ABC4.

Ms Miller said: “On the beginning of the golf cart ride, she said I wished this night could go on forever.

“The best night of her life.

“I’ve never seen the light in her eyes shine as bright as that day, from the moment that day started, getting ready for her wedding at the house.”

Mandi Jenkins, Sam’s sister, said she’d “never seen my sister look so beautiful and so happy.”

Sam and Aric left their reception a little before 10pm to go back to their Airbnb, Mandi told WBCD-TV, and shortly after leaving sirens began.

“My mum said, ‘Something happened to Sam’, not knowing anything,” said Mandi.

Once the mum and sister were alerted to what happened, they rushed to the scene.

“My mum and I ran holding hands. No shoes, no bra, no nothing, just screaming, ‘Sammy!’,” said Mandi.

Ms Miller said she doesn’t know what happened or “what the distraction was” that caused the accident, but says Komoroski “literally ran into my daughter going 65 miles an hour.”

She told WCIV: “Sammie and Aric were on the back of the golf cart and so she basically just whammed into my child.”

Mandi added: “That person made a careless mistake. And it’s not a mistake. It is a life-changing event.

““I never thought it would happen to us and to my beautiful sister, your beautiful daughter and all the 150 people that were there.”

Aric Hutchinson was left in critical condition following the crash and it is unclear if he is aware his wife was killed.

He has had to go through multiple surgeries, has numerous broken bones and has brain injuries.

Officers obtained a warrant for two vials of blood after she refused to provide a breath sample at the station.

Ms Miller and her daughter, Mandi Jenkins, are now urging drivers to reconsider how a split-second decision to take the wheel while drunk may have lasting consequences for a “real family” like theirs.

“We hope that whoever sees this — maybe it will help somebody that has made those poor decisions before stop or maybe not ever make that decision by seeing that real people are affected,” Ms Miller said.
