One of the candidates in the ongoing Basic Educational Certificate Examination (BECE) in the  Ashaiman Municipality of the Greater Accra region is reported to have died few hours to the examination that commenced nationwide on Monday, June 4, 2018.

The cause of death of is not immediately known but it has been established that 16 others out of the 3,664 candidates who registered to participate in this year’s BECE also failed to turn up.

It is not clear what caused the candidate’s inability to turn up to participate in the examination, but mynewsgh reported that some of the candidates had reported sick.

Out of the total number of 3,664 candidates comprising students from 17 public and 124 private schools, 1,698 are boys while 1,966 are girls.
