Lead lawyer for the journalists, Samson Lardy Anyenini, who gave the hint said his clients were preparing to sue for the “criminal, unlawful and unconstitutional attacks on them”.

Editor of the online portal, Emmanuel Ajafor Abugri and his colleague were picked up last Thursday by operatives of national security on claims that they had engaged in cyber fraud, a claim they both deny vehemently.

Mr Abugri, in particular, has, since his release, alleged that while he was in detention, he was subjected to all kinds of torture.

Reacting to the conduct of the security operatives on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Mr Anyenini said described the actions of the National Security officials as “unprofessional”.

He noted that such violations of rights must not go unpunished hence their clients’ decision to file the civil suit.

Samson Lardy Anyenini said claims by National Security that his clients were plotting a cyber-attack on some corporate and media organisations were untenable.

The renowned legal practitioner is confident of victory for his client because National Security is “clutching at straws” to defend an operation that “appears to have backfired”.
