The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Pyne has accused former President John Mahama of motivating the gun attack at NDC’s regional office in Kumasi Monday.

He said John Mahama’s ‘boot-for-boot’ comment is to blame for the heinous act, adding that his ‘reckless’ comments after the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence have gingered thugs in the NDC.

“The Hawks in NDC are only obeying their boss Mahama’s boot-for-boot comment and that is what we are seeing now in the NDC. They are only motivated by the comment,” he said on Adom TV’s morning show “Badwam” Wednesday.

BACKGROUND

One person was confirmed dead at the Ashanti Regional headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), while two others sustained serious injuries after gunmen believed to be members of the NDC vigilante group, the Hawks, opened fire on them.

Mr Pyne said the NDC leadership is only shielding its vigilante group even after admitting that the gunmen are indeed members of the pro-NDC vigilante group.

He urged the police to get to the bottom of the matter and bring perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
