An 18-year-old student of Eyan Maim Day Senior High School in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the central region who allegedly attempted to abort her four-month-old pregnancy has lost her life.

It is believed the concoction was given to Diana by one of her friends when she found out that she was pregnant.

Some co-tenants of Diana expressed shock at the incident with others saying the news was not surprising at all.

“She is a very reserved girl but she has been extremely quiet of late and we have been questioning if she was sick but she insisted she was fine but when we realized what the situation was, it was too late for anything to be done to save her life,” Diana’s fellow tenant said.

Mr Francis Omega who helped the tenants to convey Diana to the hospital said this was no news to him.

“Because the school is a day school with no hostel or boarding facility, the students have to get their own means of accommodation and as a result, most of them are occupants of a popular hotel in this area,” Mr Omega noted.

However speaking to the headmistress of the school Sarah Baah Odoom, she said she wasn’t in the know about Diana’s death.

“This is very new to me because the school is a day school so the parents are expected to come and inform us but nobody has been here; we are not aware of the death of any of our students.”
