The family of one of seven alleged armed robbers gunned down by police in the Ashanti region has accused the Ashanti Regional Police of “lying”.

Brother of one of the deceased, Alhaji Kamal told Captain Smart on Adom FM’s Morning Show Dwaso Nsem that his late brother, Baba Nkande is not an armed robber as is being claimed by the police.

He said his brother has never been involved in crimes against the State to warrant being killed in such terror and horror fashion.

“Those who were killed by the police are not robbers. My brother Baba Kande is not a robber. In fact, my brother Musa Seidu, popularly known as Baba Nkande, is the Area Coordinator for the NPP in the Sabun Zongo area so why should the police lie to us”, he asked.

“We leave everything to God. God will fight for us. If you kill innocent people like this then trust me, you will also not be free. We know the police are lying to us but we the family members leave everything to God”, he added.

The seven were gunned down Tuesday afternoon by Kumasi police. They were said to have attempted to open fire on the police as they approached them.

However, they were outsmarted and the well-armed police, who had mounted surveillance on the robbers, shot and killed them in the process.

The youth have vowed to wage war against the Ghana Police Service if they refuse to give tangible reasons for the shooting of seven of their colleagues.
