The Municipal Chief Executive for Askore-Mampong, Alhaji Alidu Seidu has disclosed that three of the seven suspected armed robbers killed in a shootout at Manso Nkwanta area were part of his campaign team.
According to him, reports that these men are his bodyguards are false but are known members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the area.
The names of the three he said are; Hannan, Bashiru, and Baba Kande Musah.

Seven out of the eight suspected robbers, whose attack reportedly led to the death of a Police Officer with the SWAT Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, were on Tuesday gunned down.
The deceased officer, Lance Corporal Daniel Teiku, was on duty with his colleague, Lance Corporal Eric Nsiah, when eight masked men attacked the vehicle they were travelling in at Ayirebikrom near Manso Nkwanta on July 13.
They have been dispatched to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.
Police have postponed an intended press briefing on the incident to Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
But speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Wednesday, Mr. Alidu Seidu said the men are not criminals as it has been purported by the police.

He wondered why the police would gun down people who are known in the community.
“I am still shocked and don’t even know what to say again. I’m hearing people saying that some of the men killed are my bodyguards. The truth is that, I know only three and they used to be part of my campaign team.
“They are well known here in Asokore. I can vouch that these men have never even experienced any problem with the police and so I’m still in shock. They are fully party members. These are boys who have no problem with the police” he said.

A worried Mr. Alidu Seidu who claims to know about 80 percent of the people in the community said, he will head to the Police command for a briefing.
“Since the police are investigating the matter, I will only go the command for briefing on the issue and wait for the police to come out investigations on the matter” he said.
