Just a few hours after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) had alleged that their opponents, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been given copies of the 2019 Provisional Voters Register, the latter had come out to confirm the allegations.

A press conference addressed by the chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, had him saying that while his party was yet to receive copies of the provisional register from the Electoral Commission, their opponents in the NPP had been given same.

It has however been alleged that the EC has selectively made copies of the provisional register available to the NPP. But in our case despite repeated requests and reminders, we have, to date, not received any, Mr Ampofo said.

Reacting to the allegation on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Thursday, the General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu said the NDC should deal with the EC on its legitimate concerns but leave the NPP out.

He confirmed, however, that the party had received a copy of the 2019 Voter Register.

EC asked all political parties to come for a copy and so we have ours but we are yet to print them out. For now, we have the copy of the register on a hard drive, Mr Boadu confirmed.

He added that his party had better things to do than comment on a clean voter register.

Everything is in order so what should we say? NDC can decide to take EC to the cleaners at all times because it is their stock in trade, he added.
