Ghana’s Black Princesses have been handed a challenging Group C draw for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, where they will contend with France, the Republic of Korea and Ecuador.
The tournament, scheduled for September 5 to 27, 2026, presents another opportunity for the Ghanaian side to test themselves against some of the strongest youth teams in women’s football as they continue their development on the global stage.
Under head coach Charles Sampson, Ghana will open their campaign against France, one of the competition’s traditional heavyweights and a consistent force in youth women’s tournaments.
That will be followed by a meeting with Korea Republic, a side renowned for their tactical discipline, technical quality and steady performances at age-group level.
Their final group fixture will come against Ecuador, a team that has made steady progress in recent years and is increasingly proving competitive on the international scene. Ghana complete the group, setting up what is expected to be a tightly contested fight for places in the knockout rounds.
The Black Princesses will be aiming to go beyond the group stage, a step that would further highlight the steady rise of women’s football in Ghana.
Their qualification for the tournament was secured in impressive fashion, edging Uganda 3-2 on aggregate to book a record eighth consecutive appearance at the global showpiece.
