The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says its government, should it win the 2020 polls, will cancel the Mandatory Licensure Exam being taken by newly trained teachers in the various Colleges of Education in Ghana.

According to Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed, a communications team member of the NDC, the party does not see the benefit of the licensure examination.

“As a social democratic party, we have the interest of the citizens at heart and so the NDC will scrap the teachers’ licensure exam when voted into power in 2020,” he said.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme, Monday, the NDC man said the NDC will lift the burden and hardship the Akufo-Addo-led government has plunged teachers and nurses into.

“The assurance of employment of trainee teachers no longer exists due to the Akufo-Addo led government’s introduction of the licensure exam but we are going to restore that bonding assurance to give automatic postings after training,” he said.

He said that has been the position of the party’s flag bearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama who has asked them to trumpet the call.
