The military agreement has already attracted  public condemnation by many who feel Ghana’s sovereignty as a country could be compromised by the deal.
Though Parliament approved the agreement, the minority in parliament, led by Haruna Iddrisu staged a walkout leaving only the minority to ratify the deal.
But Mr. Agyapong observes the advantages of the deal may far outweigh the disadvantages.

“We have advantages and disadvantages of this US military deal. If we have the American soldiers in this country, trust me, our security will be boosted. If they take Ghanaian soldiers to the  US for training, that is a positive one”, he said.
Kennedy Agyapong who was speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” Tuesday  said he was surprised  at the stance  of the NDC Members of Parliament whose tenure saw a similar agreement signed in 1998 and 2015.
“Look at  the members of the NDC who clandestinely signed this deal in 2015. They are the ones protesting now.  We are only ratifying  a move you made  so where from the noise”, he quizzed.

But Mr. Agyapong  who seems to agree with the NDC over Ghana losing its sovereignty, warned Ghana not to cede so much power to the US.
“The only thing I agree with the NDC is that our sovereignty may be at stake. It can only happen if we give them too much power. When too much power is given, they [US] will rule over us; trust me”, he warned.

  1. I still don not understand this man…! Since he is in parliament, he should be the best to tell us which ratification they did and how much power is given to the US military?
He should not sit down and talk like a layman who cannot read and write but can speak English that everybody understands.
All that many people are talking about is having US Military base in Ghana. US army presence in Ghana is not a big deal but allowing them to has a base in Ghana is the problem because having US base in Ghana gives US the capability to launch an attack on any country of their choice. And in response, that country will attack the country from which such aggression is coming from and in that case Ghana.
In the end, Ghana will become a battle field for America and that country.
Secondly, America has several enemies so having US military base in Ghana will make Ghana a target and America will do just a little to protect us and when the going becomes tougher for them, they will leave you in a mess. An example is Libya and Iraq.
Thirdly, our oil can be a target for this Americans. America will find every possible means to create trouble in our country and siphon our oil whiles we focus attention on solving the problem.
The president of America called Africa SHITHOLE, and asked what economical value does America gain allowing people from that continent to come to America? He has planed deporting as many Africans as possible. So i also ask a simple question, that what is the economic benefit for Ghana allowing US Military base in Ghana? Why is America willing to establish a base in Ghana?
Mr. Government, America will not do anything for a fan of it, they always calculate their steps and have 50yrs plus plan anything they do.
Let us re-study America’s international relations and policies to know the people we are actually playing with. America will always seek its interest in a very deal they have with another country irrespective of how small that country and Ghana is no exemption. America is creating war everywhere they go especially in the Middle East particularly in Iraq, Yemen, Libya and now Syria.
America’s economy is still not the best and China’s economy seems to be far advanced. Africa and the world may depend on China soonest. But with the presence of US base in Ghana, China’s support may decline.
America is not a trusted friend to keep because she will support you today and turned against you the next morning.

  2. Ken agyepong does not know anything about foreign policy. He does not even understand what is meant by a sovereign nation as Ghana is. H should be go back to school and learn international affairs to understand that american presence will completely destroy Ghana while we become slaves again.
    Idiot illiterate man!!.
