The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kpandai, Hon. Haruna Abdul-Karim, has donated five motorbikes to victims affected by the chieftaincy and land conflict between the Kpandai Nawuri and Nkanchina Nawuri communities.

The clash, which occurred on February 7, 2026, at about 12:18 p.m., led to the burning of five motorbikes belonging to some residents.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News affiliate reporter Prince Busula during the presentation ceremony at the Kpandai Police Station, Abdul-Karim said the donation was aimed at restoring peace and supporting affected farmers whose livelihoods were disrupted by the incident.

According to him, the victims relied on the motorbikes for farming activities and daily transportation.

“The clash between the two Nawuri communities led to the burning of five motorbikes. Because I want peace to prevail in Kpandai, I used my personal resources to purchase these five motorbikes to replace those that were destroyed. The beneficiaries are farmers who rely on these motorbikes for their farming activities,” he stated.

He further advised the youth of Kpandai against taking the law into their own hands when disputes arise, urging them to resort to lawful channels for conflict resolution.

“There are laws in Ghana. We have the courts, the police, and other institutions responsible for resolving conflicts. If there is any misunderstanding, people should report it to the appropriate authorities. This donation is not meant to promote violence but to support those who suffered losses and to encourage peace,” he added.

Receiving the motorbikes on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Asunke Albert, Secretary to the Nkanchina Chief, Nana Okumankwi I, expressed gratitude to the DCE for the gesture.

He said the incident had severely affected farmers who depend on motorbikes for their farming activities.

“We were deeply saddened by what happened. The loss of the motorbikes affected us greatly because they are essential tools for our farming activities. Some of the victims had to rely on commercial motorbikes, popularly known as ‘yellow yellow,’ to carry out their daily work,” he said.

Mr Asunke Albert also appealed to residents to remain peaceful and resolve disputes through dialogue and lawful means, emphasizing the need for reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.

The presentation forms part of efforts to promote peace and reconciliation in the Kpandai District following the conflict.
