Former Greater Accra Regional Minister and former Tema East MP, Titus Nii Kwartei Glover, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran Ghanaian diplomat and statesman, Ambassador James Victor Gbeho.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Mr. Glover said he was shocked when he heard the news of the diplomat’s death, which was confirmed by the Foreign Affairs Minister.
“I was watching the news in the evening when the Foreign Affairs Minister announced publicly that Victor Gbeho had passed on,” he said.
He described the late diplomat as “a gentleman par excellence” and a respected figure who served Ghana with distinction.
“He is a gentleman par excellence and a respected personality of our land. From my mother’s side in Anlo, he has passed. Let me use this opportunity to mourn him,” he added.
Mr. Glover noted that the late Ambassador Gbeho’s contributions to Ghana and the West African sub-region made him deserving of a state funeral.
“This funeral is for the state because he really served well,” he stated.
He also extended condolences to the bereaved family, President John Dramani Mahama, and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying the nation has lost a great statesman.
“He was once an MP for Anlo. We wish the family, the President, and the entire NDC strength in this difficult time,” he said.
Mr. Glover further indicated that he would participate in the funeral once arrangements are announced to pay his final respects.
Ambassador Gbeho, who passed away at the age of 91 on Saturday, June 13, 2026, was a distinguished diplomat who served as President of the ECOWAS Commission from February 18, 2010, to March 1, 2012. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
