The Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, led by Acting Paramount Chief Nana Ofori Ahenkah II, has engaged the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, over concerns surrounding the proposed location for the establishment of a regional hospital in the Western North Region.
The engagement follows reports that some pressure groups are planning a demonstration over claims that the proposed site for the hospital is unsuitable.
During the meeting, Nana Ofori Ahenkah II clarified that the Traditional Council is not aware of any planned protest and has not been involved in any discussions supporting such action.

He explained that no final decision has been taken regarding the hospital’s location, stressing that the matter remains under consideration by relevant stakeholders.
According to him, while the Omanhene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area made land available for consideration, other potential sites have also been proposed, and no official selection has been confirmed.
He therefore questioned the basis for the planned demonstration, noting that it is premature to protest a decision that has not yet been finalised.
The Western North Regional Minister commended the Traditional Council for the clarification and engagement, describing the visit as timely.
He also reiterated that government has not reached a final decision on the hospital’s location and expressed surprise over the planned demonstration.
Wilbert Petty Brentum added that while citizens have the constitutional right to demonstrate, it would be more appropriate to seek clarification through engagement rather than protest over an unresolved matter.
He encouraged stakeholders to continue dialogue as discussions on the project progress.
