A fatal road crash at Nsuatre Amamfoso in the Bono Region has claimed the life of a hearse driver following a head-on collision with a Kia truck on Friday, May 8, 2026, between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
Information gathered by Adom News the hearse was transporting a corpse from Sunyani to Koraso when it collided head-on with the Kia truck near Nsuatre Amamfoso.
The impact killed the ambulance driver instantly, while the Kia truck driver sustained severe, life-threatening injuries.
The body of the deceased ambulance driver has been deposited at the Holy Family Catholic Hospital morgue in Berekum.
Family members who were on board the ambulance later arranged for another vehicle to continue the journey and convey the corpse to Koraso.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service in both Berekum and Nsuatre responded to the scene and worked to clear the road to restore traffic flow.
Residents say the stretch has become a major concern, as it is reportedly the same location where multiple fatal crashes have occurred over the past five years, with more than 20 lives lost and several others sustaining serious injuries.
Security agencies have since launched investigations into the crash and are urging drivers to exercise caution and strictly observe road safety regulations to prevent further tragedies.
