The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that three members of the Black Stars’ technical team will retain their roles ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The decision comes in the wake of the official unveiling of new head coach Carlos Queiroz in Accra on Thursday, April 23.

The experienced Portuguese manager is expected to strengthen his backroom staff with five additional appointments, with further details set to be announced in the coming days.

While changes are anticipated, the GFA has opted for continuity by keeping assistant coach Desmond Offei, goalkeepers’ trainer Fatawu Dauda, and high-performance coach John Paintsi within the technical setup under Queiroz.

The 73-year-old coach is expected to remain in Ghana for a few days before travelling to Europe to begin assessing potential squad members ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Ghana will be making their fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in a difficult Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama. The Black Stars open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

After group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022, Ghana will be aiming for a stronger showing, with Queiroz tasked with steering the four-time African champions to a more competitive run on football’s biggest stage.
