The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has dismissed a response by the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (National Pensions Regulatory Authority) regarding concerns he raised about the Authority’s assets, describing it as misleading.

In a Facebook post on Friday, April 17, Mr Assafuah said the NPRA’s statement, issued a day after his press conference, failed to accurately address the issues he had highlighted.

The Authority had indicated that it owns only two Toyota Land Cruisers, purchased in 2023 and 2026, and challenged the MP to provide evidence to the contrary.

However, Mr Assafuah rejected the claim, insisting it does not reflect the true situation.

“Let me state clearly: that claim is misleading,” he stated.

In its earlier statement, the NPRA described the MP’s allegations as “false, misleading and unsubstantiated,” addressing concerns related to salary adjustments, procurement processes, consultancy engagements and a proposed head office project.

The Authority also clarified that it is not the custodian of pension funds under the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766), and denied claims that it spent GH¢15 million on seven Land Cruisers.

Additionally, it dismissed assertions regarding the financing of its head office project, stating that the facility remains under construction and is not funded with pension contributors’ funds, while urging the MP to provide evidence to substantiate his claims.
