Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo says it was an easy decision for him to choose to represent Ghana on the international stage.

Semenyo earned his maiden call-up to the national team on May 26, 2022, and made his debut for the Black Stars on June 1, 2022, in a 3-0 win against Madagascar in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations 9AFCON) qualifiers.

The 26-year-old has since become a consistent member of the team, making 34 appearances, including featuring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he has scored three goals.

Speaking in an interview, Semenyo revealed that playing for Ghana was undeniable and an easy decision to make.

“No, I was never really in the England rankings like that anyway. Ghana came in 2021, and I can’t turn down playing first team for Ghana. So it was an easy decision,” he told ItsAllOutFooty.

Semenyo, who moved from Bournemouth to Manchester City, will be one of Ghana’s top players to watch at the 2026 World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars forward will be hoping his fine form can inspire them to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010, as they face tough competition against England, Croatia, and Panama.
