The High Court, General Jurisdiction 2 in Accra, has granted bail to the Sunyani East Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abubakar Yakubu, popularly known as Baba Amando, after his two-week remand by a Circuit Court.
The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties. He has also been directed to report to the police every two weeks while investigations continue.
Yakubu was arrested on Monday, April 13, 2026, in connection with ongoing investigations into alleged offensive conduct, publication of false information, and the circulation of statements considered likely to incite fear and panic.
He had earlier been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court on April 14, drawing public attention as investigations into the matter intensified.
Although formal charges are yet to be filed, sources suggest the arrest may be linked to alleged threats said to have been directed at a judge at the Adentan Circuit Court, an issue that has raised concern within legal and governance circles.
He is also alleged to have shared derogatory images of the President and some members of the government.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full facts of the case. The court’s bail conditions are expected to ensure his availability to assist with the probe.
