A 33-year-old woman, identified as Emmanuella Aenge-Bisi, has been arrested at the Paga border in the Upper East Region for allegedly possessing and selling fake and unwholesome drugs.
The suspect was apprehended alongside her Nigerian husband during an operation targeting the illegal sale of unregistered pharmaceutical products at the busy border post.
According to Crime Check, Emmanuella Aenge-Bisi confessed to selling fake aphrodisiacs and waist pain remedies to unsuspecting patrons without the required registration and approval from the relevant regulatory bodies.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by regulatory and security agencies to clamp down on the circulation of counterfeit and unapproved drugs, particularly in border communities where such activities are often prevalent.
Authorities have cautioned the public to be wary of purchasing drugs from unlicensed sources and urged traders to comply with pharmaceutical regulations to avoid legal consequences.
