The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed that Ghana is in discussions with Wales for a pre-2026 World Cup friendly match.

The Black Stars are preparing for their fifth World Cup appearance, with the 2026 tournament set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Coach Otto Addo’s squad has already scheduled friendlies against Austria on March 27 at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium and against Germany on March 30 in Stuttgart as part of their buildup.

Ghana will also face Mexico in May, though the venue and exact date are yet to be confirmed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Speaking before a Parliamentary Committee on Thursday, February 26, Adams confirmed ongoing talks with Wales for another preparatory fixture ahead of the tournament.

Drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, the Black Stars will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23 and closing the group stage versus Croatia on June 27.

Following back-to-back group-stage exits in recent editions, Ghana is determined to make a stronger impact on football’s biggest stage this summer.
