The Ministry of Health has secured approval for the payment of salary arrears owed to nurses and midwives posted in 2024/2025, providing long-awaited relief to frontline health workers across the country.
Following extensive consultations with the Ministry of Finance, the government has approved a structured plan to settle the arrears in four instalments from April to July.
Under the arrangement, two months of arrears will be paid in April, three months in May, another three months in June, and the remaining three months in July.
The Ministry of Health described the payment plan as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to clearing all outstanding obligations responsibly and on time while maintaining fiscal discipline.
In a statement, the Ministry commended nurses and midwives for their patience, dedication, and unwavering service to the nation despite the delays. It also expressed sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for prioritizing and expediting the resolution of the matter.
The statement added that the government remains committed to protecting the welfare and motivation of health workers, recognizing their vital role in strengthening healthcare delivery nationwide.
