A Communication Team Member of the National Democratic Congress (National Democratic Congress), Bernard Anim Piesie, has called on Ghanaians to exercise patience with the government despite ongoing power outages.

Speaking on UTV Ghana in Accra, he acknowledged that the current situation is challenging but urged the public to remain understanding.

“The current power outages are not good news, but we should bear with the government,” he said.

According to him, the outages are largely due to overloaded transformers, which are currently being replaced—an exercise that requires temporary power shutdowns.

He explained that the high voltage levels in some areas make it necessary to switch off power during maintenance to prevent further damage.

Mr Anim Piesie noted that the situation is partly a result of longstanding issues within the energy sector, including past planning and management challenges, as well as concerns related to the Akosombo Dam.

He, however, commended the government’s efforts, stating that progress is being made, including the restoration of four turbines, some of which involve modern technology.

While acknowledging the difficulties caused by the outages, he cautioned against excessive blame, urging stakeholders to focus on solutions..
