The Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Asunafo South in the Ahafo Region, Eric Opoku, has announced plans to significantly improve infrastructure at the Kwapong Nursing and Midwifery College to enhance teaching and learning.
Mr. Opoku made the announcement during the institution’s 10th anniversary celebration and 11th matriculation ceremony, held under the theme “Shelter: A Resource for Academic Excellence in Nursing Education.”

At the event, he introduced four contractors expected to commence work immediately on an ultra-modern dining hall and a 12-unit classroom block.
He also disclosed plans to construct a new girls’ dormitory to replace the old facility that was destroyed by fire several months ago, an incident that left many students displaced.
The minister assured chiefs, staff, students, and residents that the government remains committed to providing the necessary development to strengthen teaching and learning at the college.
In an interview with Adom News, the Principal of the college, Kwame Adinkrah Amo, commended the MP for his support, noting that the planned infrastructural upgrades will bolster the institution’s efforts to introduce degree programmes.
He added that lecturers are currently upgrading their qualifications, including pursuing PhDs, to ensure the delivery of high-quality health education aimed at saving more lives across the country.
