Super Clash: Aboubakar Ouattara content with draw against Kotoko

-

Hearts of Oak Head Coach Aboubakar Ouattara says he is satisfied with his team’s performance in their goalless draw against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on Matchday 30 of the Ghana Premier League.

The highly anticipated clash, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, lived up to its billing with intensity and excitement, but neither side could find the breakthrough in a tightly contested encounter.

Speaking after the match, Ouattara admitted the result was fair, though he expressed frustration over his side’s failure to capitalize on their chances.

“I’ll take the draw,” the Ivorian said.

“We came to win, but it’s a fair result. I learned a lot from this game and will discuss it with the boys.”

“What didn’t work was our inability to score,” he added.

Hearts of Oak carved out several opportunities, particularly in the second half, but struggled to break through Kotoko’s solid defensive setup. The result leaves the Phobians in sixth place with 46 points.

Despite the dropped points, Ouattara remains optimistic about his team’s chances as the season nears its conclusion.

“The league will be tough, but we’ll keep fighting for the top four, the top two, or even the title. We’re not giving up,” he declared.

Asante Kotoko, who now sit fourth with 51 points, will aim to bounce back with a home fixture against Dreams FC. Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak face a tricky away test against Berekum Chelsea in their next outing.
