Ashanti NPP Chairmen warn against flagbearer hopefuls promoting disunity

The Ashanti Regional Chairmen Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong statement warning that they will not support any flagbearer aspirant or party leader whose actions or utterances promote division within the party.

In a press release, the chairmen expressed deep concern over what they describe as a growing wave of internal disunity, factionalism, and self-serving political conduct, particularly in the aftermath of the party’s recent electoral defeat.

“As Constituency Chairmen of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, the stronghold and heart of our party, we are compelled to speak out against divisive rhetoric and conduct that threatens party unity,” the statement read.

They stressed that their primary focus remains restoring the NPP to power for the benefit of the Ghanaian people, and not for the personal ambitions of individuals.

According to the statement, some aspirants and their supporters have resorted to media attacks and public spats, which they believe are undermining party morale and eroding public confidence.

They described the timing of these actions, which happened just months after a national defeat, as inappropriate and damaging.

“We shall not welcome or support any flagbearer aspirant and their supporters whose conduct undermines the unity, discipline, and collective spirit of our party,” the chairmen cautioned.

They urged party members to prioritize unity, discipline, and patriotism, warning that continued internal conflict could threaten the NPP’s chances in the 2028 general elections.

The chairmen called for a period of sober reflection and a recommitment to the party’s core values as they work toward rebuilding the base and regaining public trust.
