A 22-year-old law student, Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe-Bonnie Michaels, popularly known as Okodie, has announced her intention to contest the Manhyia South parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections on the ticket of the Base Ghana First Movement.
The aspiring parliamentary candidate said her decision was driven by what she described as the lack of visible development in the constituency and her desire to bring change to the area.
Speaking on her political ambition, Okodie said she believes the constituency needs new leadership focused on delivering meaningful development for residents.
“I have seen no progress in Manhyia South. Therefore, as a 22-year-old woman, I declare my intention to contest for the position of Member of Parliament for Manhyia South on the ticket of the Base Ghana First Movement to bring significant development to the constituency,” she stated.
She said her youthful energy, legal background and commitment to public service would enable her to champion development initiatives and address the concerns of constituents if elected.
Okodie’s announcement makes her one of the youngest individuals to publicly declare an intention to contest a parliamentary seat ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The Manhyia South Constituency, located in the Ashanti Region, is considered one of the New Patriotic Party’s traditional strongholds. The parliamentary seat is currently held by Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The Base Ghana First Movement is expected to outline its plans and candidates as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2028 polls.
