Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has appealed for restraint and optimism in public discussions about the Black Stars ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Panama.

Ghana, making their fifth appearance at the global tournament, have been drawn in Group L and will begin their campaign on Wednesday at BMO Field in Toronto.

The Black Stars head into the tournament on the back of a difficult run of form, having failed to win any of their last six preparatory matches.

However, Sannie Daara believes the tone of public commentary could play a role in shaping the team’s mindset.

“Let’s be measured with our words about Black Stars and Carlos Queiroz ahead of the Panama game,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

“Positive words can inspire the players to beat Panama,” Daara added.

The team has already arrived in Toronto and is expected to hold a mandatory training session ahead of the clash.

After their opener against Panama, Ghana will face England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before wrapping up their Group L campaign against Croatia on June 27, with hopes of reaching the knockout stages for the first time since 2010.
