January 2018

A video of the Head Teacher of Edumanu D/A Basic School allegedly having sex with one of his pupils sparked outrage at Breman Edumanu in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District of the Central region.

Following the leakage of the video in which the teacher was seen bonking his student on a kitchen stool, social media platforms went crazy with what is called the “Kitchen stool challenge”.

Adomonline.com brought you some crazy pictures of the challenge in which, mostly women, were seen kneeling on kitchen stools to depict the act in the video.

On this same month, Former Attorney General, Martin ABK Amidu was named the Special Prosecutor.

February 2018

Ghanaian dancehall musician Ebony Reigns died. 

According to the Mankraso District Police Commander, John Adusei, Ebony was returning to Accra to make preparations for a trip to America when the unfortunate incident happened.

March 2018

Joy News intercepted an agreement approved by Cabinet granting unrestricted access to a host of Ghanaian facilities and wide-ranging tax exemptions to the United States Military.

The agreement permitted the U.S. Military to use Ghana as a base for staging and deploying forces.

But the deal was backed down by the Minority Caucus in Parliament who demonstrated against the move but they were locked out of Parliament.

April 2018

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, was arrested.

May 2018

The much-anticipated documentary was premiered by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The premier captured the behind-the-scene dealings of football officials in Ghana.

But Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, after the expose vowed to expose Anas Aremeyaw by publishing his “ill-gotten” houses and lands for the public to know he [Anas] is not as pious as he wants the world to believe.

However, Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr was surprised at the sudden campaign being waged against investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, following exposé on football and politics.

June 2018

The President Nana Akufo-Addo on this month removed the Electoral Commissioner Charlotte Osei and her two deputies from office for “misbehaviour and incompetence.”

The removal was on the recommendation of a committee set up by the Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo to investigate alleged acts of corruption, misconduct and misbehaviour by the three commissioners.

The two other commissioners were Amadu Sulley and Ms Georgina Opoku Amankwaa.

On this month too, the former Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur died.

According to a close source, he was rushed to 37 Hospital after he collapsed at the Airforce Gym.

July 2018

Members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) threatened to withdraw outpatient services at public health facilities unless government resolves outstanding emolument issues.

But the Ministry of Health met with the leadership of the GMA to resolve concerns regarding reduced SSNIT contributions.

August 2018

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) announced it is creating the Consolidated Bank Gh. Ltd to take over some struggling banks in the country.

Royal Bank, Beige Capital, Sovereign Bank, Construction Bank and Unibank are four financial institutions that have run into liquidity challenges.

Also, Mr. Boakye Agyarko was sacked as the Minister of Energy over the controversial revised AMERI deal.

He was asked to handover to Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Peter Amewu.

September 2018

On this month, the Securities and Exchange Commission ordered, gold trading firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited to suspend their operations with the public with immediate effect.

But some aggrieved customers of Menzgold threatened a mammoth demonstration at the Jubilee House following SEC directive that the company halts with immediate effect, its gold trading activities.

It was however revealed that a middle-aged woman, Maame Juliet Nyarko has been struck by stroke after investing her life savings GHC170,000 at Menzgold.

October 2018

The former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi was banned for life from all football-related activities.

He was also been fined 500,000 Swiss Francs for various breaches of FIFA’s ethics as well as conflict of interest.

But the embattled former president of the GFA says he will appeal a lifetime ban handed him by the governing body of football, FIFA.

November 2018

Kweku Adoboli, the former UBS trader convicted of fraud, was deported to Ghana, despite a long campaign to keep him in Britain.

His lawyer confirmed he was flown out of Heathrow Airport after being detained in Scotland.

Also the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West in Accra Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko died.

Another scandal that hit the country this month was a junior pastor of Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi’s Glorious Wave Chapel International, Pastor Nana Appiah allegedly caught in bed with a married woman.

December 2018

Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, defended the implementation of the newly approved drone delivery health system.

His defence comes on the back of controversies surrounding the introduction of medical drones for distribution of health essentials in emergencies.

Also voting in the referendum on the creation of six new regions ended and results showed YES received a massive endorsement in almost all affected areas.

Six new regions will be created. These are Oti, Bono East, Savannah, Ahafo, Western North and North East.

But on a sad note too, the head pastor of the Central Assemblies of God Church at Tema Community Four, Rev Dr David Nabegmado, was stabbed to death Sunday at the church premises where he was preparing to deliver a sermon.
