Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr. is surprised at the sudden campaign being waged against investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, following his latest exposé on football and politics.

According to him, attempts to call Anas’ integrity to question by some politicians and sports administrators will be an exercise in futility.

Mr. Baako’s comment is in reaction to allegations by Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong that Anas is not “clean”.

He alleged that the celebrated journalist has amassed wealth by “blackmailing notable people in society”.

Ken Agyapong has vowed to expose Anas Aremeyaw by publishing his “ill-gotten” houses and lands for the public to know he [Anas] is not as pious as he wants the world to believe.

Mr Agyapong’s complaints follow Anas’ expose in which the FA president is alleged to be using the name of the president Akufo-Addo and vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to solicit for money from prospective investors.

There have been suggestions that the Anas brand of investigative journalism is self-serving, counterproductive and only meant to trap his victims.

But in a quick rebuttal, Kweku Baako on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday insisted that is not the case.

He challenged the Assin Central MP to back his allegations with evidence rather than expressing “emotions without the benefit of intellect”.

The senior journalist said he can vouch for the integrity of Anas who has gained international recognition for his work.

“Anas is able and willing to defend his integrity as anything and I, Abdul, will be at his corner” he said.
