Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has revealed the flagship Planting for Food and Jobs programme has reduced graduate unemployment in the country.
According to him, 2, 160 university graduates and 1, 070 youth to register and provide extension services to farmers across the country.
Mr. Ofori-Atta disclosed this while delivering the 2018 Budget and Financial Statement in Parliament Wednesday November 15, 2017.
He indicated that “our flagship Planting for Food and Jobs Programme has been a tremendous success”
The Finance Minister also disclosed that the National Buffer Stock was revitalized to procure, store and distribute the outputs from the Planting For Food and Jobs and other programmes
Also, he said the invasion of the Fall Army Worm was successfully managed through distribution of chemicals to farmers; recruitment of spraying gangs and monitoring and surveillance.
Based on these, Ken Ofori-Atta is confident the Agric sector will record significant growth next year.
