The Aburimanhene and Adontenhene of Akuapem Traditional Area, Otoobour Djan Kwasi II, has warned the government of Ghana to stay away from the Akuapem chieftaincy disputes and allow Akuapem tradition to be followed to bring peace and development.

Otoobour Djan Kwasi II gave the warning at this year’s Aburi Odwira festival which coincides with his 30th-anniversary celebration as an Omanhene of the area.

He said it is the duty of queens to choose chiefs in the Akuapem and Akan tradition and pleaded with the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs to expedite its actions towards settling of chieftaincy issues in the region.

Otoobour Djan Kwasi II also advised chiefs opposing the creation of new regions to rethink their positions because it brings development.

He said Aburi was once one district but now the area can boast of Akuapem north with Nsawam as its capital and Akuapem south with Aburi as its capital

He said all the developmental projects being enjoyed today are as a result of the creation of an additional district.

Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye, who was the special guest of honour for the occasion assured Ghanaians that the free SHS policy and its Double Stream is the best educational policy to ever happen in Ghana.

He appealed to people with good plans and intentions to feed government to help make the policy better.
