A coalition of Youth in Afforestation has served notice of a sit-down strike on Friday if the government failed to pay their salary arrears that have accrued for eight months.

Leaders of the coalition have complained that there is no clear-cut government policy on the programme thereby hampering the effective administration of it.

Over 300 personnel have been picketing at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi after police allegedly failed to give them a green light for a planned demonstration.

They said they were tired of the assurances given to them by the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, also known as Sir John.

The group has, therefore, resolved to lay down their tools until the arrears are paid.
