Barcelona secured a 29th La Liga title in the sweetest of fashions, as they beat bitter rivals Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clásico, taking an unassailable 14-point lead in top spot in the process.
It did not take the hosts long to hit their stride, with Marcus Rashford beautifully curling a free-kick over the wall and into the far top corner from the edge of the box after just nine minutes.
Shortly afterwards, Ferran Torres doubled the advantage by collecting Dani Olmo’s lay-off and clinically firing past Thibaut Courtois, who was making his return from a two-month injury absence for the visitors.
It remained that way until the break, although Gonzalo Garcia and Aurelien Tchouameni wasted chances for the visitors, while Courtois made an excellent stop to deny Rashford.
The goalkeeper was in fine form to keep Fermin Lopez at bay upon the restart, while he made a further stop from substitute Robert Lewandowski late on to ensure the deficit stayed at two goals.
Real offered very little at the other end and succumbed to their sixth defeat of the campaign, whereas Barca have lifted back-to-back Liga crowns.
