The family of the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, says it is concerned about the condition of former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, following reports of a recent shooting incident involving her.
According to the Secretary to the family, Dr. Philip Siaw Kissi, efforts to reach her directly have been unsuccessful, as she does not answer calls, making communication difficult at a time the family is worried about her wellbeing.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Kissi said the family, like the general public, has been following developments through media reports and is eager to confirm her condition firsthand.
“If someone is your relative and something happens to him or her, even before you see the person, everyone is worried. But the truth is nobody calls her for her to pick,” he said.
He explained that attempts to contact her have been routed through her personal assistant, but direct communication has not been possible.
“You have to get to her through her assistant, but she is still our daughter, and if something happens to her, it affects us too,” he added.
Dr. Kissi said the family’s immediate priority remains the burial arrangements for the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, stressing that discussions around other issues will follow in due course.
“The family’s priority now is to get the body of late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka and give him a befitting burial,” he stated.
He noted that the family was not present at recent ceremonies and is relying on media reports for updates on developments surrounding both the burial and the reported incident.
“We were not at the ceremony and don’t know what exactly happened. We are hearing everything through the media,” he said.
Dr. Kissi added that the family will soon convene to deliberate on the issues and determine the way forward, assuring that the public will be kept informed of any decisions reached.
“So in due course, the family will meet and discuss the issues and see the way forward. Whatever happens, we will keep Ghanaians informed,” he said.
Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot wound to her left ear while visiting the residence of her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, on Sunday.
The incident is alleged to have occurred amid tensions linked to an ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested six people in connection with the incident as the investigation proceeds.
