General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says he is more than qualified to be the running mate of former President John Dramani Mahama.
He maintained that, the qualities needed to be chosen as a running mate are not so much of technical knowledge but the quality of judgement of the individual.
General Mosquito, as he is popularly called, on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Thursday said given his track record in Ghana’s body politic, he is more than qualified.
“Being a running mate is not so much of technical knowledge in one field or the other; the person should be one with quality judgement and be able to mobilise resources to achieve the needed results,” he said.
The NDC General Secretary cited the exploits of former Brazilian President, Lula da Silva who was just a shoe shine boy but rose to become President to buttress his point.
“Lula is a friend so spoke to me about how he made it and he said he just gave the people what they wanted and he succeeded. His 10-year tenure is the most prosperous in the history of Brazil,” he noted.
He said Mr Mahama is the appointing authority but when given the opportunity, he will serve Ghana as vice president to the best of his abilities.
