A Ugandan trader has said she contracted malaria days after a directive issued for them to sleep at the markets during the ongoing lockdown, reports the Daily Monitor newspaper.
The newspaper shows some traders have become sickly and are unable to seek treatment due to lack of money as sales are still low.
President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday ordered the ministry of health to distribute mosquito nets to traders in markets.
Shortly after the order, the ministry tweeted a donation it had received for mosquito nets.
President Museveni extended the lockdown by 21 days from 15 April to 5 May.
During these additional days, the directives issued in the previous lockdown will still be in place including that of traders sleeping at the market.
