He had to be rushed to hospital by an ambulance earlier this month after falling critically ill

Question: I am in a relationship with a guy for about 4 months and we know each other quite well. When the lockdown started, I left the hostel where I was staying and returned home. During the initial weeks of the lockdown, we used to text and talk the whole day.

But as the lockdown extended and we could not meet each other physically anymore, he started reducing his texting and talking frequency. He says that he’s busy but whenever I call him he reciprocates very well. Now as the lockdown is still going on, we text only once in three days and barely talk but now he doesn’t even like if I text him frequently or call him. He often says that we are going to meet for sure after the lockdown get’s over. What could be the reason for his change in behaviour? When we used to talk and chat for the whole day, he was on leave from office work as he had a fracture. His texting and talking frequency reduced when he resumed his work from home. Is it because he got busy? He even informed me about this scenario before and had told me that he won’t be able to give time to talking and texting. I am worried about what is going on in our relationship. Please help. —By Anonymous

Response by Dr. Rachna Khanna Singh: Hi! Thank you for writing to us. I completely understand that your situation is very tough due to the unusual crises we are caught up in. This can be tricky because it ultimately is the only way we can be in touch with the outside world. I can understand if you feel like your boyfriend is not being as communicative as he usually is. It is clear that your partner was trying hard with communication but now as time is passing that effort is reducing. The worry you are feeling due to this change is also natural to feel.

To deal with this situation what can be done is to communicate with him. Communication is essential and will help you feel better. Clear and honest discussions will help you understand his situation better and will also help him be aware of what you’re feeling. I hope this helps. Feel free to follow up. Stay home and stay safe.
