The Ghana Book Publishers Association has revealed that textbooks developed based on the new curriculum are not ready and will not be available in schools when the new academic year commences next week.

The President of the Book Publishers Association, Eliot Agyare, speaking in an interview with Joy News, said the association is waiting for the assessment processes to be done.

He said “members are in the process of submitting the books to the National Council for Curriculum Assessment for evaluation and as it stands now, no book has been assessed because per our knowledge, no member has received any assessment report.”

Mr Agyare appealed to the government to come to their aid: “The delay will affect academic work as the academic year begins next week as well as our businesses.”
