Speaking in an interview with Irene Adubea Aning on The Career Trail program, he explained that while many bloggers focused on entertainment and celebrity gossip, he carved out a unique niche in humanitarian storytelling.

If you check my Wikipedia, it says I once started as an entertainment blogger, but now I’m doing humanitarian work because I needed to find a niche for myself,” he said.

“Apart from Joy News, Adom TV, and a few traditional media, which blogger was going into rural communities to tell the stories of children and deprived communities? No one. I had to create that space on social media,” he continued.

He said his motivation was tied to the idea of leaving a digital footprint.

If I ask you about your grandmother’s mother, you may not know her. But imagine if in their time there was social media; we would all know our great-great-grandparents because their lives would be a search away.

“But things are not the same now. In our era, everything we do is going to remain because of the presence of social media. So for instance, my children’s children will just search and see what their grandfather did. So everything I do on social media today, someday, my children’s children will also know. That’s why I have decided to document my life in a positive light,” he explained.

According to Kobby Kyei, this unique approach has caught the attention of corporate organizations, diplomats, and international bodies.

“That decision opened a lot of diplomatic and international doors, and corporate bodies also accepted what I was doing,” he highlighted.

For him, blogging is not just about news and trends; it’s about creating a legacy that future generations can trace and learn from.

Don’t measure your success with likes and comments – Kobby Kyei to content creators https://www.adomonline.com/dont-measure-your-success-with-likes-and-comments-kobby-kyei-to-content-creators/ Sat, 11 Oct 2025 06:07:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2587330 Ghanaian blogger and humanitarian Kobby Kyei has urged young content creators not to equate their success with the number of likes and comments they receive on social media.

In a recent interview on The Career Trail on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, he explained that digital impact goes beyond surface-level engagement.

“How many times have you seen something on social media that you really loved, but you just scrolled past without liking or commenting? It happens all the time,” he said.

“Hence, if I post about a donation I’ve done and I’m waiting for your comment to validate my work, then I won’t move forward,” he continued.

He therefore encouraged creators to look at deeper analytics instead.

“The insights tell you more. A post might show only a few likes, but it could have reached 20,000 or 50,000 people. Why should likes and comments be the yardstick for my success journey?”

According to him, many young bloggers become discouraged when they don’t get immediate engagement, but that mindset is limiting.

“The world is watching you. Don’t let your environment hold you back. Coming from a poor background doesn’t mean your back is on the ground. In this digital era, people from the US, Indonesia, and all over the world could be following you without your knowledge,” he emphasized.

For Kobby Kyei, success is about consistency, impact, and global reach, not just online reactions.

Your social media posts will haunt or honour you tomorrow – Kobby Kyei https://www.adomonline.com/your-social-media-posts-will-haunt-or-honour-you-tomorrow-kobby-kyei/ Sat, 11 Oct 2025 06:01:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2587332 Award-winning Ghanaian blogger and humanitarian, Kobby Kyei, has urged young people to take their presence on social media seriously, warning that the digital footprints they create today will shape how future generations perceive them.

Speaking on The Career Trail program aired on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, he stressed that careless posts could return to “haunt” those who treat online spaces as a playground.

“Every youth out there who has taken social media as, quote-unquote, a playful environment, it is going to haunt them one day,” he cautioned.

“But those who are wise enough to document and have a good digital footprint are going to be proud of themselves when they are in their 60s and 70s,” he added.

According to him, just as the speeches and rare video clips of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah still inspire Ghanaians, the digital content young people leave behind will serve as a legacy for future generations.

“The same way we get excited seeing Nkrumah’s old videos, one day your great-great-grandchildren will say, ‘Grandpa, I watched your interview in 2025, and it was amazing.’ But they could also say, ‘Grandpa, I saw you insulting someone in 2025. Why did you do that?’ It’s all over the internet,” he explained.

For him, every post, picture, or video matters, and he therefore advised young people to be careful with how they use their social media platforms.

“Think about it before you hit upload, because your digital footprints are forever.”

‘I quit teaching to pursue blogging’ – Kobby Kyei https://www.adomonline.com/i-quit-teaching-to-pursue-blogging-kobby-kyei/ Sat, 11 Oct 2025 05:42:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2587323 Renowned online journalist and humanitarian Kobby Kyei has revealed how he left a secure teaching job to follow his passion for blogging and media.

Speaking on The Career Trail, which aired on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, he explained that his love for music and media shaped his journey, but his determination pushed him to take risks.

According to him, after completing Nyankumasi Ahenkro Secondary School, where he studied General Arts, he pursued Music Education at the University of Education, Winneba, graduating in 2016.

“My dad was with the Fire Service Band. At 12 years, he taught me how to play the trumpet. I loved music so much, so I went to Winneba to do Music Education,” he shared.

In 2017, he passed the teacher’s entrance exams and was posted to Ashaiman Senior High School to teach music. But just when his family thought his future was secured, he made a bold decision.

“2017, I told myself, this is your appointment letter. I called my mom and dad and said, ‘You know what? I want to go into blogging. I want to go into social media,’” he revealed.

Kobby Kyei explained that like most Ghanaian parents, his mother believed a government job provided stability and financial security. Hence, that decision did not go down well with his mother.

“My mom called pastors and family elders to talk to me. You know, in Ghana, every parent wants their child to work in the government sector because of that financial dependency. She didn’t understand blogging; her only idea was Facebook. She asked, ‘How will Facebook feed you and your siblings?’” he recalled.

Despite the pressure, he stood by his decision and reassured his parents.

“I told her, ‘Mom, give me a few years. Certificates don’t die. If I fail, I’ll go back to the classroom,’” he said.

Kobby Kyei explained that his passion for media had always been with him, even as a child.

“Growing up, it was either media school or music school. I used to buy Junior Graphic every Wednesday, stand in front of the mirror, and read like a presenter. I admired Abeiku Santana, KSM and all the big media personalities,” he expanded.

Even though he chose music at Winneba, the “media bug” never left.

“I joke that it was between G.I.J and Winneba. Winneba came first, so I went there. But the media passion was still there. So in 2017, I finally decided to go into blogging and the rest is history.”

Friends advised me to create a ghost account – Kobby Kyei https://www.adomonline.com/friends-advised-me-to-create-a-ghost-account-kobby-kyei/ Sat, 11 Oct 2025 05:39:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2587322 Award-winning online journalist Kobby Kyei has disclosed that some friends once advised him to create an anonymous gossip page to survive in the blogging space.

In an interview on The Career Trail programme aired on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, he revealed that his decision to remain a positive blogger came with many challenges.

According to him, in an environment where sensationalism sells, he was often told his style would not pay off.

“From the beginning, I told myself I wanted to stand for change. I wanted to be known as a positive blogger. But people would tell me, ‘Positivity won’t bring you food; positivity won’t take you anywhere.’ Because here, sensational stories and trending news are what thrive,” he shared.

Kobby Kyei explained that despite posting consistently, he was overlooked at the early stages of his career.

“You post content and you don’t get the likes. You don’t get the viewership. When there are award schemes and invitation programmes, they don’t invite you. Ironically, the people insulting celebrities on Facebook Live and TikTok Live are the ones who get the attention,” he lamented.

He described the experience as frustrating, especially because his brand sought to project public figures positively.

“If I don’t insult celebrities and I put them in a positive light, am I not the one to be invited? But that wasn’t the case,” he said.

During this period, he said friends encouraged him to run two accounts.

They told me, ‘Kobby, you can keep this positive page, but create another page, anonymous, something like Gossip GH, that will fetch you the money,” he recounted.

But he rejected the suggestion, insisting that it clashed with his values.

“I gave them one answer: it has stolen my soul and my spirit. I wouldn’t want to have a Kobby Kyei who is positive on one page and then the same soul disgracing people on the internet with another page. No,” he revealed.

Kobby Kyei admitted the journey has been difficult but added that consistency and focus eventually paid off.

“I told myself it’s going to be hard, but there’s always glory at the end of the tunnel. I never discouraged myself; I kept pushing; I kept posting. And today, it has paid off,” he stated.

Attending an A-Class school doesn’t guarantee success – Kobby Kyei https://www.adomonline.com/attending-an-a-class-school-doesnt-guarantee-success-kobby-kyei/ Sat, 11 Oct 2025 05:30:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2587316 Ghanaian blogger and humanitarian Kobby Kyei has encouraged young people not to be discouraged if they are placed in less popular secondary schools.

He stressed that success depends more on determination than on the name of the school you attend.

Speaking toon The Career Trail, aired on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, he recounted his own secondary school journey and how he turned what looked like a setback into a success story.

According to him, after completing junior high school during the second batch of the computer placement era, he had high hopes of attending top schools like Mfantsipim, Swedru Secondary (Swesco), and Aggrey Memorial.

“I attended international schools; I was very good academically, so I was confident of getting into a big school. We checked; it was loading, and we were praying. Boom! Nyankumasi Ahenkro Secondary School. That was where I was posted. My family had no idea about this town or the school,” he recounted.

He narrated how his father personally visited the school before his admission and assured him it was a decent place. Yet, when he finally arrived, his expectations were shattered.

“We got to the entrance and I started crying. They didn’t even have an entrance. You know, when you get to a secondary school, the entrance alone gives you hope of glory. But here, nothing. There were only about four buildings. No boys’ dormitory. We were sleeping in classrooms. We bathed outside. If you wanted to poo-poo, you went to the bush. And mind you, most of my colleagues were in Mfantsipim and Aggrey. I kept asking myself, ‘What did I do wrong?’” he recalled.

Despite these challenges, his father’s words became his motivation.

“My dad told me, ‘Stay here and make me proud. I don’t have the financial capacity to lobby for you.’ So I adjusted my mind. I said, the school is within you, not the environment,” he noted.

Kobby Kyei revealed that this advice reshaped his mindset.

“I told myself that the school is within you, not the environment. Even though I didn’t get Mfantsipim or Swesco, I was writing the same examination as those students. What mattered was how seriously I took my studies,” he explained.

Today, he says people often assume he attended an elite school because of his success, but he uses his story to caution against that mindset.

“Some people went to top schools like Mfantsipim and Adisadel, but today their stories are nothing to write about. Attending an A-class school doesn’t automatically make you successful. It’s your determination, your studies, and your vision that matter,” he emphasised.

The blogger also used the platform to encourage parents.

“Sometimes you don’t have the financial means to push your children into the big schools. But support them spiritually, emotionally, and financially in any way you can. That’s what my parents did for me,” he urged.

He, however, underscored the importance of a strong foundation at the basic level.

“No matter your circumstance, make sure you give your children a good foundation. If the foundation is weak, it will affect the whole building. But once the basics are solid, they can thrive anywhere,” he advised.

Some pastors use our weaknesses to heal us – Kobby Kyei   https://www.adomonline.com/some-pastors-use-our-weaknesses-to-heal-us-kobby-kyei/ Mon, 04 Mar 2024 21:48:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2364990 Ghanaian media personality Kobby Kyei has delved into the profound capabilities of the human mind.

Kobby Kyei’s insights shed light on a fascinating aspect of the human psychology, particularly concerning the influence of belief and suggestion on our wellbeing.

In a recent episode of the Mastering Your Mindset series on Konnected Minds podcast, Kobby told the host Derrick Abaitey about how powerful the mind is in overcoming fear and getting healed from sicknesses.

“Have you noticed that if there food, let’s say iced kenkey in a fridge, you take it and drink, you are all over the place, hosting your podcast and all. And then later they tell you the iced kenkey you drunk is spoilt, why did you take it? You begin to fall sick. You begin to have some funny feeling in your body,” he said.

During the discussion, Kobby Kyei highlighted a common relatable phenomenon observed within the religious contexts, where some pastors employ what he referred to as a “trick” to facilitate healings.

He illustrated this point by referencing instances where congregants are given prophecies to drink water during healing services, accompanied by a directive to “add faith” for the promised healing to manifest.

According to Kobby Kyei, by instilling a sense of faith and belief in the congregants, pastors effectively harness the mind’s potential to catalyze healing processes within their body.

“I say to the glory of God, I hardly go to the hospital. Because I have been able to practice and use my mind. So anytime I am sick, like small headache, I shake it off. I will be fine.

That is the reason some pastors use that as our weakness to the vulnerable. Because the pastor will tell you that if you don’t have faith, what he is telling you will not go. Why don’t you have faith yourself that that sickness will go? They will tell you ‘take the water, it will go. I pray onto the water’, and they will take the water and it will go,” he said.

The Konnected Minds podcast is known for its commitment to providing valuable and insightful content to its audience.

The show continues to foster deep and meaningful conversations around topics such as mental health, entertainment, counseling etc.

Through platforms like Konnected Minds, people are afforded the opportunity to explore diverse perspectives and gain a much deeper understanding of the human experience.

Why I quit teaching for blogging – Kobby Kyei https://www.adomonline.com/why-i-quit-teaching-for-blogging-kobby-kyei/ Wed, 02 Jun 2021 14:45:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1967817 Popular Ghanaian blogger, Kobby Kyei, has opened up on reasons that made him quit his teaching profession for blogging.

According to him, his decision was informed by the quest to change the face of blogging, become one of the biggest bloggers in Africa and also leave a legacy that will be unmatched.

He explained he obtained a Diploma qualification in music at the University of Education, Winneba after successfully completing Fanteakwa Senior High School (SHS).

“I went to pursue education and graduated as a trained teacher and didn’t work with that but I recently had a job offer to teach music at Ashaiman SHS but I turned it down to stick to blogging and do it well,” he narrated.

The blogger, born Augustus Koranteng Kyei, disclosed this as he opens up on his private life in an interview with Adom TV’s Afia Amankwa Tamakloe.

“I was not social media savvy growing up so it was even one of my friends who created social media accounts for me but most of my works were about Sarkodie until I had another advice to be versatile.

“So I got in touch with Ameyaw Debrah who gave me a few tips because he believed  I was already on course,” he narrated on M’ahy3ase3 show.

To him, that is the reason he does not involve in unhealthy social media and celebrity ‘beefs’, adding that that is to help build a distinct brand.

“I don’t delight in inciting and disgracing people to make a living just because of blogging. I bought my car from this blogging; I’m married with two kids and we are living comfortably,” he said.

Many people have regretted supporting #FreeAkuapemPoloo campaign – Kobby Kyei [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/many-people-have-regretted-supporting-freeakuapempoloo-campaign-kobby-kyei-video/ Tue, 04 May 2021 09:35:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1954767 Blogger Kobby Kyei is of the view that many high profile personalities and even celebrities who threw their weight behind Akuapem Poloo when she was arrested and jailed have regretted.

According to him, she hasn’t learnt from her lessons per her actions and latest videos on social media.

Speaking on Adom TV‘s Ahosepe Xtra last weekend, he asked the video vixen to be extra careful with how she conducts herself on social media after her jail sentence.

MORE:

She should be guided. She is not active on her page so I don’t know how she posts those videos… She can go on with her business but she should be careful with how she talks.

With young girls in the industry, how you introduce yourself will carve your brand. It will be difficult to move away from how you introduce yourself in the entertainment sphere.

Our culture setting is different from those abroad. I am sure she wants to hear good stuff about her. Even in the video that she addressed DKB she was twerking at the end.

So I will plead with her to be careful. Some people have regretted supporting the free Akuapem Poloo campaign, he claimed.

Meanwhile, the blogger said he is poised to lead a campaign soon to help the youth sanitise their minds about nudity.
