Michael Dodoo is alleged to have carried out the crime on September 20, 2025, with three others whose names were given as Prince, Amuguaye, and Sadiku, currently at large.

Dodoo, 21, has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, and stealing.

He is expected to reappear on October 20 before the court presided over by Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, said the complainant, Seidu Mohammed, was a businessman and a resident of Koforidua.

Chief Inspector Wonder said the accused persons, Dodoo, Prince, Amuquaye and Sadiku resided at James Town in Accra.

On September 20, 2025, at about 0400 hours, the complainant parked his Opel vehicle in front of UBA Bank, Accra Central Branch, and without locking the doors, crossed the road to buy tea from a tea seller.

Prosecution said the complainant left his bag containing two Tecno mobile phones, valued at GHC 3,500, and cash amount of GHS 50,800 in the vehicle.

The four accused persons, who were also at the scene, hatched a plan to open the said vehicle and steal anything of value.

They entered the car by opening the front door and stole the phones and money, the prosecution said.

It said the police received information regarding the activities of the accused persons at the said location, and based on intelligence, they arrested Dodoo.

He was alleged to be one of the suspects engaged in breaking into vehicles of innocent owners who parked at the said location.

A search conducted on him revealed two Tecno mobile phones, which the complainant identified as those stolen from his car.

During the investigation, Dodoo informed the police that after stealing the phones and cash, and in their bid to share the booty, a fight ensued between the group.

Dodoo further stated that Amuquaye took custody of the money to be shared amongst them later.

Efforts were being made to arrest Prince, Amuguaye and Sadiku whilst investigations were underway, the prosecution said.

The accused, Israel Agbo Forson, pleaded not guilty to the charge of threatening death.

Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, prosecuting, told the court that on June 18, 2025, a National Police Patrol Team stopped an Uber vehicle near the University of Wisconsin, with Forson as a passenger.

The team requested to search the vehicle and Forson’s luggage.

While the driver complied, Forson objected and demanded that the officers wear gloves before searching, leading to a verbal exchange during which he recorded the incident.

Both parties later agreed to proceed to the Taifa Police Station, where the search was conducted in the presence of the District Commander. Forson was subsequently granted police enquiry bail.

The prosecution said that shortly after his release, Forson recorded another video in which he threatened to kill any police officer who crossed his path and shared it on social media.

On June 23, 2025, police intelligence identified Forson as the individual in the video. He was arrested, but a search of his residence yielded no incriminating evidence.

The case has been adjourned, and Forson remains in custody pending further proceedings.

Pastor in court over alleged GH¢310,000 visa fraud https://www.adomonline.com/pastor-in-court-over-alleged-gh%c2%a2310000-visa-fraud/ Mon, 03 Mar 2025 06:16:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2510248 A pastor was on Friday arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding a businessman of GH¢310,000 under the pretext of securing visas for him and his family.

Cris Karl Ofori is accused of collecting the amount from the complainant, Amadu Seidu, with the promise of assisting him with visa acquisition.

Charged with defrauding by false pretences, he pleaded not guilty.

The court granted Mr. Ofori bail in the sum of GH¢350,000 with three sureties. Two of the sureties must be public servants earning not less than GH¢5,000, while the third must justify the bail with a title deed. The case has been adjourned to April 25, 2025.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Kwadwo Aboagye, told the court that the complainant, a resident of Sampa in the Bono Region, intended to travel to Canada with his family to resettle.

In 2023, he discussed this with one Nana Abena Sika, who introduced him to the accused as someone who could assist with the visa process.

In October 2024, the accused asked the complainant to make an initial payment of GH¢80,000, which he did, along with three passport booklets—his own, his wife’s, and his daughter’s—to begin documentation.

Prosecution said the accused subsequently collected various sums from the complainant, totaling GH¢310,000.

Later, Mr. Ofori informed the complainant that the Canadian visa application was unsuccessful but claimed to have secured visas for the United Kingdom instead.

Based on this, he invited the complainant and his family to Accra to prepare for their supposed trip.

However, upon their arrival, the accused went into hiding for three days and could not be reached.

Realizing they had been deceived, the complainant and his family returned to Sampa and reported the matter to the police at James Town. The accused was later arrested from his hideout.

In his caution statement, Ofori admitted to the offence, according to the prosecution.

Among the four accused, only Richard Ninson, 21, is an adult. However, he was not present in court. Ninson was charged with two counts of abetment of crime to wit assault.

The other three, aged between 15 and 17, are minors and their names have been withheld. They appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to charges of threat of harm, abetment of crime, and assault.

Presiding Judge Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Basit granted bail to the three minors, allowing them to remain in the custody of their relatives – father, uncle, and aunt – who stood as sureties under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Each minor was granted bail of GH₵10,000 to enable them to prepare for their upcoming examinations.

Meanwhile, the court ordered the prosecution to file its disclosures and witness statements for the Case Management Conference. The case has been adjourned to April 14, 2025.

According to the prosecution, on January 1, 2025, the school authorities intercepted a video circulating on social media, suggesting that the four students had assaulted some form one students on the school compound using a machete.

The complainant, along with the aunt of one of the minors, took him to the police for questioning.

His caution statement was taken, and he was released on bail while investigations continued.

Investigations revealed that on January 17, 2025, the victims (form one students) went to the school park to pray when the four accused persons approached them.

The accused allegedly ordered the victims to kneel and instructed one of them, who was holding a phone, to delete all its contents and hand it over. The victim was further asked to pay GH₵500 to retrieve his phone.

Additionally, all the other victims were asked to contribute GH₵10 each, which they did.

The prosecution stated that one of the accused persons hit the victim’s chest and assaulted him with a machete while another recorded the incident. The accused then allegedly threatened the victims not to disclose their ordeal to anyone or risk further harm.

Two men charged with possession of human remains https://www.adomonline.com/two-men-charged-with-possession-of-human-remains/ Fri, 01 Nov 2024 15:44:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2467310

Two men appeared in the Dansoman Circuit Court on Thursday, October 31, 2024, on charges relating to the unlawful possession of human body parts, a violation of Section 698(b) of Ghana’s Criminal Offence Act, 1960 (Act 29), as amended in 2012.

Alex Frimpong, 24, and Abdul Razak Mohammed, 49, were each charged with the offense after police apprehended them with a human skull in their possession.

Presiding over the case, Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul Baasit entered a plea of not guilty for Alex Frimpong, the first accused, despite his initial guilty plea. The second accused, Abdul Razak Mohammed, also pleaded not guilty.

Details of the Case

According to police records, Frimpong, a mason residing in Pokuase, had reportedly sought spiritual help to improve his financial situation. He was introduced to a man named Nana Atta, who is currently at large, through social media. Nana Atta allegedly presented himself as a fetish priest who could provide assistance but required a human skull for the rituals.

The prosecution stated that on October 25, 2024, Frimpong met Abdul Razak Mohammed, a grave digger at Awudome Cemetery, to obtain the skull. After the payment of GH¢600.00, allegedly transferred by Nana Atta to Mohammed, the skull was handed over to Frimpong.

Later that day, Frimpong was stopped by a police patrol team near Odorgono Secondary School. Upon searching his belongings, officers discovered the human skull in a black backpack.

Following his arrest, Frimpong implicated Mohammed as the source, leading to his apprehension.

Court Proceedings and Bail Request

Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, representing the prosecution, argued against bail, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to visit the crime scene at Awudome Cemetery. He added that the police are still attempting to locate Nana Atta and that granting bail could compromise the investigation.

The prosecution also argued that both accused have no permanent residence, raising concerns about their potential failure to appear in court.

Invoking Section 96(5)(a) and (b) of Act 30, the court refused bail for both men, ordering that they remain in police custody until the next hearing on November 15, 2024. The court instructed the prosecution to expedite their investigation and file the necessary disclosures for case management.

Additional Details and Future Steps

The police are actively pursuing Nana Atta, who remains at large. Meanwhile, the human skull, a key piece of evidence, has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary.

Two students in court for allegedly robbing teacher at gun point https://www.adomonline.com/two-students-in-court-for-allegedly-robbing-teacher-at-gun-point/ Tue, 10 Sep 2024 12:20:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2446719 Two students have been charged in the Dansoman Circuit Court with robbery and conspiracy to rob.

Joshua Kwabena Nyador and Wisdom Ayekple have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Two other accomplices whose names were given as Toussant Afadolo and one Stanley are at large.

Nyador, Ayekple, and the other accomplices allegedly robbed the complainant, a teacher whose identity is concealed, of her iPhone XR mobile phone and iPhone 6 at gunpoint.
The accused also succeeded in withdrawing GHC175 from the complainant’s mobile money account.

Not satisfied with their actions, they downloaded the complainant’s nude photos on her Instagram page and threatened to distribute them on social media if she declined to pay GHC5,000.

The court has admitted Nyador and Ayekple to bail in the sum of a million with two sureties, one to be justified.

The matter has been adjourned to November 25, 2024.

The prosecution’s case was that the complainant was a teacher who lives in Mempeasem, Accra.

The court heard that Nyador and Ayekple claimed to be level 200 students at the University of Ghana, Legon and that they live at Madina Zongo Junction.

On July 12, 2024, at about 1900 hours, the complainant and her friend were sitting in front of her Mempeasem home when a white Toyota Corolla Spider approached them, and Stanley, who is still at large, pulled out a pistol and robbed them of an iPhone XR and an iPhone 6.

The prosecution said after robbing them of their phones, the accused withdrew GHC175 from the complainant’s mobile money account.

The court heard that the accused also gained access to the complainant’s Instagram account and downloaded her nude pictures.

According to the prosecution, Nyador called the complainant and informed her that he was a blogger and that if she did not pay him and his accomplices GHC5,000, he would distribute her naked videos on social media.

The complainant reported the matter to the police on August 17, 2024, and Nyador was arrested at his hideout in Madina Zongo Junction.

In his investigation caution statement, Nyador admitted to the crime and disclosed that his schoolmates, Ayekple, Afadolo, and Stanley, sent phones to him, as well as a pistol in a big pack, following the robbery.

He also admitted threatening the complainant with her nude videos.

The investigation further found that the first accused, Nyador, removed the complainant’s sim card from her phone and inserted it into three different mobile phones that had different numbers.

The prosecution said that the numbers sent messages to the complainant’s phone number, and investigations found that one of the mobile phones was registered in Nyador’s name, while the other was registered to his father, Edwin Nyador.

On August 19, 2024, Ayekple in his caution statement, denied taking part in the robbery. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the other accomplices.

Tailor convicted for stealing from church offertory box https://www.adomonline.com/tailor-convicted-for-stealing-from-church-offertory-box/ Fri, 28 Jun 2024 19:08:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2415178 A 35-year-old tailor accused of dishonestly appropriating an unspecified amount of money from the offertory box of Star of the Sea Catholic Church has appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court.

Moses Vincent, on a second occasion, allegedly stole an envelope containing GH₵600 placed on the church altar.

Vincent was charged with two counts of unlawful entry, two counts of stealing GH₵600 belonging to the church and being on premises for unlawful purposes.

The alleged acts of Vincent were exposed when the Church’s Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) was played.

He pleaded guilty to stealing but denied the other charges.

The Court presided over by Halimah El-Abdul Baasit convicted Moses on his own plea on June 19, 2024, on the charge of stealing and remanded him till June 26, 2024.

The other charges were withdrawn.

When Vincent reappeared on June 26, 2024, before the Court and was asked if he still maintained his plea of guilt on the stealing charge, he responded positively.

The Court, in balancing the mitigating and aggravating factors, cautioned Vincent after a good Samaritan at the Court paid the money he stole from the Church.

He was ordered by the Court to sign a bond to be of good behaviour in the next 12 months.

The prosecution told the Court that the complainant was Chantel Agbenyo, a Security Officer at Dansoman, Exhibition Roundabout.

It said Vincent, the convict, claimed to be staying at the Arts Centre, Accra.

The prosecution said on June 14, 2024, at about 2010 hours, Chantel assisted by Thomas Wahab, head of security of the Church, arrested and brought Vincent to the Police Station.

The prosecution said the complainant reported that on March 20, 2024, Vincent was captured on the Church CCTV having entered the Church premises stealing money from the Church offertory box.

The Court heard that some elders in the Church came to the Dansoman Police Station to plead on behalf of Vincent and he was set free.

The prosecution said in May 2024, Vincent was captured again on the CCTV footage having entered the Church premises unlawfully and making away with an envelope containing cash of GH₵600, which was on the altar of the Church.

Vincent was re-arrested by the Police and in his caution statement, he admitted the offence.

The prosecution said the stolen money was not retrieved.

The Police received copies of the CCTV footage for evidential purposes.

A leading member of the Movement for Change (M4C), Hopeson Adorye has been arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court.

This comes after he was arrested and detained at the Ministries Police Station on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 over his dynamite detonation in the Volta region claims.

A video, intercepted by Adomonline.com, captured moments the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member was being whisked into a Police vehicle.

A brief altercation ensued between Mr Adorye and a Policeman in ‘Mufti’ who tried to push him while the former was talking to his lawyer, Ken Kuranchie.

Infuriated by the act, Mr Adorye charged on the Policeman, questioning the rationale behind his action.

A group of young people in yellow T-shirts believed to be members of M4C gathered at the precinct of the Police station, began chatting free Hopeson while the driver sped off.

The outspoken politician had claimed the NPP used dynamites to scare voters in the Volta region ahead of the 2016 election.
