Family of a final year student of Wesley High School in Konongo who tested positive for coronavirus have accused school authorities of negligence in their handling of the situation.
The family is questioning the decision of the school authorities to put the student on a commercial bus when he was returning home after showing signs of Covid-19.
Nhyira News sources say the unidentified male student was first sent to the Konongo-Odumase Government Hospital after showing symptoms.
Further tests at the Hospital, however, revealed he had malaria, pending the outcome of Covid-19 test.
While he was awaiting results, school authorities put him on a Konongo-Kumasi bound commercial bus before his parents arrived.

The student’s uncle, Osei Kwadwo, said he continued the journey in a tro-tro on reaching Kumasi.
He told Nhyira FM’s Kro yi mu Nsem the family later had a call from Manhyia Government Hospital, confirming the boy had tested positive for Covid-19.
He is unhappy about what he says is wrong and blamed the school for poor handling of the case.
“How could you put the boy on a bus from Konongo to Kumasi?” he quizzed, adding “What communication took place between the hospital and school authorities?
“Do you know the number of people he has infected on his way from school to home? Can’t they be held liable, if the boy gets missing? Ask school authorities, if anyone has called to check on the student,” an angry Mr Osei quizzed.
Meanwhile, the Conference of Heads of Assisted Second-Cycle Schools (CHASS), has also criticised the poor handling allegation.
Ashanti Regional President, Reverend Father Owusu Sekyere, said the approach by authorities breached approved protocols for the handling of such matters.
He appeals to the family to exercise restraints, as CHASS works with school authorities to address the matter.
