National Chapters Organizer of Hearts of Oak, Paa Kofi Sunsum believes referee Samuel Sukah was superb on Sunday.

Samuel Sukah has been slammed and criticized by many Ghanaian football fans for awarding a dubious penalty to Hearts of Oak in their encounter against Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

Vincent Atinga converted the controversial penalty to grab all three points for the Phobians to end their eight years winless run against the Porcupine Warriors at their home grounds.

Many called on the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to suspend the referee.

“We as a team worked very hard behind closed doors and we won the match peacefully,” he told Asempa FM.

“Kotoko should blame themselves for behaving childish. They were showering praises on their players whiles they don’t know what will happen on the day.

“Nobody can convince me that the ball was not a penalty. The referee was closed to the incident and he was the only person to decide on that.

“The replay shows clearly that it was a penalty and I must say that Samuel Sukah was superb on the day because he was bold on the decision he took.

“We have seen referees awarding penalties to Kotoko that was unworthy but nobody complained so I will ask Kotoko to focus and stop the unnecessary complain because it will not help them.” He added.
