Police officer, General Corporal Wise Bessey, has been interdicted by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly assaulting a civilian at Takoradi in the Western Region.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Service said the interdiction is to allow a thorough investigation into the incident.
The statement said the victim has however been contacted by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and “has assured him of the needed Police assistance”.
The Ghana Police Service has also assured the general public of its commitment to professionalism in the discharge of its mandate.
