Police officers from the Sakumono District Command have halted the reconstruction of a building that was previously demolished during an enforcement exercise at Sakumono Golf City in the Greater Accra Region.
The structure was among several buildings pulled down during a demolition exercise led by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, over allegations that it was obstructing access roads and affecting lawful occupants in the area.

However, months after the demolition, the owner of the property reportedly returned to the site and began reconstructing the building.
Acting on intelligence, police officers moved to the location and ordered workers to suspend construction activities.
According to sources, the building is situated on land that residents claim blocks an access road serving legally occupied properties in the area.

Following the police intervention, workers at the site reportedly contacted the owner, who arrived shortly afterwards and questioned the officers over the decision to halt the construction.
The owner allegedly expressed anger over the development and accused the police of being connected to the earlier demolition exercise.
Some residents have since called on the Greater Accra Regional Minister to revisit the site and ensure that the structure is removed again if it is found to be in violation of planning regulations.
There was also a confrontation involving members of the media who were filming activities at the site. Witnesses said the property owner challenged the journalists and accused them of reporting the reconstruction works to the police.
Police have not yet publicly commented on the incident, while the legality of the reconstruction remains under scrutiny.
